Description

In the implementation of SAFe, sooner or later, with a greater or lesser impact, agile programs, i.e. Agile Release Trains, interfere with the portfolio level and strategic management of the organization. SAFe is intended to be implemented in the entire organization, so that it builds the culture and mechanisms of Lean and SAFe at all levels and in all domains, so that, based on the common "lean-agile DNA", it effectively implements the development of the solutions produced. In Poland, the most common model of SAFe implementation is the one in which the domestic company is a supplier of development teams that provide programming services based on SAFe, the implementation of which is managed by the owner of the solution. Less frequently, the Polish supplier has an organized dedicated Agile Release Train and manages the same program level. In order to be able to develop own products, solutions or value streams in the SAFe model, it is necessary to implement SAFe at all its levels, so that the Large Solution and Program levels implement initiatives launched at the Portfolio level and thus support the strategy, and at the same time support the initiatives launched on the lower levels and the tools used in them.

The "SAFe LPM Workshop" is most often run in the "Extend to the Portfolio" step of the SAFe Implementation RoadMap. Its purpose is to understand what is agile product development management at scale, at the portfolio level (roles, tools, goals) and to outline future activities aimed at launching the Portfolio level and its integration with other levels. The exercises teach how to define basic artifacts and tools functioning at the level of an agile portfolio. Depending on the choice of options (1 day or 2 days), the exercises will be more or less extensive and will give the participants a general view or allow them to develop objects that can function in the organization (e.g. strategic themes, Epica's Portfolio, budgeting rules, etc.).
